    John S Colebrook was born in , at birth place, New York, to Charles W Colebrook and Mary Ann Colebrook (born Spencer). Charles was born on March 11 , in Biddenden, Kent, England. Mary was born circa , in Warick, England. John had 8 siblings: Charles Edward Colebrook, Ann Colebrook and 6 other siblings. Two of the burglars were hit by the hail of bullets, one later found dead in his family’s home. Loewe was rushed by delivery wagon to Methodist Hospital, still semi-conscious, but he later succumbed to the wounds. The officer was later buried at Holy Cross Cemetery.
